Consultomania - Energy Forward Case Challenge: Stages and Timelines
Thinking on the Clock
Thinking on the clock is a time-bound online simulation round that launches Consultomania and sets a high bar from the start. Designed to reflect real consulting pressure, the round tests participants on critical thinking, quantitative aptitude, finance, business fundamentals, and market awareness, with a clear focus on application and structured reasoning over recall.
Serving as the screening and eliminative round, Thinking on the Clock ranks teams on accuracy and speed, where sharp judgment matters. Designated team representatives will attempt the round on behalf of their teams. Only teams that demonstrate strong analytical discipline and execution will progress further.
Strategy in Motion
Shortlisted teams advance to Strategy in Motion, a case-based presentation round where strategy meets sustainability. Teams will work on a real-world consulting case curated in collaboration with the SPJIMR Consulting Club and NTPC, centered around emerging challenges in sustainable business and industry readiness.
Participants are required to submit a maximum of 5-slide presentation (including opening and closing slides) outlining their problem framing, approach, analysis, and recommendations. Solutions will be evaluated on insightfulness, feasibility, scalability, and big-picture thinking, with a strong emphasis on structured reasoning and practical impact.
The Final Call
The top 7 teams advance to the final round to present their solutions for the NTPC Sustainability Case before a panel of judges from NTPC on 31st January. Each team will have 10 minutes to present, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A to defend their recommendations.
Teams are required to present an extended deck of up to 8 slides, clearly articulating their strategy, sustainability impact, and feasibility of implementation. This round tests strategic clarity, sustainability-driven thinking, and the ability to justify decisions under pressure. Detailed presentation guidelines will be shared with qualifying teams.

Consultomania is SPJIMR’s flagship consulting competition, hosted as part of OJASxSprint 2026, and built to replicate the rigor, pace, and ambiguity of real-world strategy consulting. Designed for MBA students with a knack for structured thinking and problem-solving, the competition pushes participants to think like consultants from the very first round.
The event unfolds across multiple elimination rounds, beginning with a high-pressure screening quiz and progressing through case-based submissions to a final live presentation. Teams will be challenged on critical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, financial and business fundamentals, strategic clarity, and decision-making under time constraints. Each stage is crafted to test not just what participants know, but how effectively they apply it under pressure.
This year’s edition features a sustainability-focused consulting case, curated in collaboration with the SPJIMR Consulting Club and NTPC, reflecting emerging industry challenges and long-term strategic considerations.
