The Khel-Kala Cosmos: Where Legends Are Forged on the Battlefield of Wits!
SPJIMR’s SPRINTxOjas presents Castle, a flagship online chess tournament. This is more than a game—it’s a battle of strategy, courage, and resilience. Compete for glory in the shadows of ancient times, where the forces of light and darkness clash. The Khel-Kala Cosmos call upon your brilliance. Are you ready to rise as a legend?
General Guidelines:
- Platform: The tournament will be conducted on Chess.com. Participants must create an account if they don’t already have one.
- Setup: Participants will play on a web browser while being on a Zoom call using the same device. Cameras must remain on, and entire screens should be shared at all times.
- Monitoring: Games will be monitored by Chess.com’s algorithm. Any flagged malpractice will lead to the disqualification of the participant and their team.
- Connectivity: A stable internet connection is mandatory. Organizers are not responsible for losses due to poor connectivity.
- Organizer Decisions: All decisions made by the organizers will be final and binding.
Team Formation:
Team Size
- Teams must mandatorily consist of three members from the same institution.
- All participants must be enrolled in an MBA or equivalent postgraduate management program.
Armageddon Rules: In case of a tie, each team nominates one player for an Armageddon game.
Time Format:
- White: 5 minutes
- Black: 4 minutes
- No time increment.
- Black has draw odds (a draw counts as a win for Black).
Rules and Regulations:
Qualifying Round:
- Format: Swiss format (3 minutes + 2 secs increment) .
- Scoring: Win: 1 point, Draw: 0.5 points, Loss: 0 points.
- Team Score: The scores of all three players are summed to determine the team’s score.
- Tie-breaker: Chess.com’s tie-break score will be used.
- Semi-Finals: Match-ups: 1st ranked team vs. 4th ranked team, 2nd ranked team vs. 3rd ranked team.
- White Advantage: The 1st and 2nd ranked teams get white on 2 out of 3 boards.
- Scoring: Same as the qualifying round.
- Tie-breaker: Each team nominates one player for an Armageddon game.
- Grand Finale: Winners of the Semi-Finals compete for the championship. Losers of the Semi-Finals compete for third place.
- Format: Same as Semi-Finals.
- Tie-breaker: Armageddon game between nominated players.
Entry Fee and Registration:
Entry Fee: ₹400 per team (inclusive of 18% GST).
Registration Process: Payment details will be shared via a Google Form post-registration. Registration will be confirmed after payment.
Prizes:
Winner: 3 Dgt chess boards + Chess.com memberships: 9 months gold (3 months/ person)
Runner up: 3 Dgt chess boards + Chess.com memberships: 6 months gold (2 months/ person)
2nd Runner up: 3 Dgt chess boards + Chess.com memberships: 3 months gold (1 months/ person
Terms & Conditions
- The decision of the organizers will be final
- Teams pulling out of the tournament will not be eligible for a refund
- Participants should adhere to the event guidelines, any violations would result in direct disqualification
- The use of unfair means will result in direct disqualification
- Teams shall face disqualification if they do not meet the eligibility criteria
- Participants must be from the same college and enrolled in an MBA or an equivalent postgraduate management program
- Rules, Schedules, and prize money are subject to change based on the number of registrations
- The final decision in all matters rests with the SPrint x Ojas team
- Registration will be confirmed post-payment. A Google Form will be circulated post-registration which would give the payment details
