Zerve AI Hackathon: Stages and Timelines

Using Zerve, build and deploy a measurable analytical system that solves a real business problem-whether that's churn prediction, demand forecasting, anomaly detection, a recommendation engine, or your own use case. Your solution should include a model or recommendation engine that makes predictions or recommendations, and you'll need to prove it works by including validation metrics such as backtesting, holdout validation, accuracy metrics, or business KPIs that justify your approach. Finally, ship your solution to production by deploying it as an API endpoint or scheduled workflow using Zerve's deployment features.

Proof of Power: Challenge Completion Verification

After completing the coding challenge on Zerve, participants must: Submit your Canvas output and report on Unstop, then post your completion screenshot on LinkedIn with #ZerveHack and #CreateWithZerve and upload the LinkedIn post link on Unstop.

All that you need to know about Zerve AI Hackathon

Most analysis never leaves the notebook. The Zerve AI Hackathon challenges you to go further. Build an autonomous analytical system that doesn't just generate insights, but proves they work and deploys to production. Create a predictive or prescriptive workflow, validate its effectiveness, and ship it as a live API or scheduled job. No slides. No prototypes. Real systems that run.

Eligibility:

  • This hackathon is open to data professionals only - data scientists, data analysts, analytics engineers, ML engineers, and similar roles.

The Challenge:

Build a deployed, measurable analytical system in Zerve that:

  • Solves a real business problem: Churn prediction, demand forecasting, anomaly detection, recommendation engine, or your own use case
  • Includes a model or recommendation engine that makes predictions or recommendations
  • Proves it works: Include validation metrics (backtesting, holdout validation, accuracy metrics, business KPIs). Justify your approach.
  • Ships to production: Deploy as an API endpoint or scheduled workflow using Zerve's deployment features

You may use your own data or select from Zerve's example datasets (Titanic, Palmer Penguins, NASDAQ 100, Data Science Salaries, Hotel Reviews, and more).

Registration Process

Submission Requirements:

Participants must:

  1. Click on the "Submit" button and submit:
    • Link to your Zerve canvas
    • Written report overview explaining what you built, the problem it solves, and your validation approach
  2. Post on LinkedIn OR X (Twitter) sharing what you built, with a link to your Zerve canvas. Tag @Zerve AI and @unstop on LinkedIn and @Zerve_AI on X.

Optional but strongly encouraged: Post a short video walkthrough (under 3 minutes) explaining your solution on LinkedIn or X, tagging @Zerve AI and @unstop or @Zerve_AI respectively. Video submissions will receive higher weighting in judging.

Rules and Guidelines:

  • Individual participation only.
  • All work must be built within the Zerve platform
  • Submissions must include deployed functionality (API or scheduled job)
  • Submissions must include validation metrics demonstrating effectiveness
  • One submission per participant
  • Submissions must be original work created during the hackathon period
  • By submitting, you grant Zerve permission to share and feature your work

Judging Criteria:

Criteria Weighting
Model/Recommendation Effectiveness: Does it actually work? Show us the metrics. 40%
Business Relevance: Is this solving a real problem someone would pay for? 25%
Production Readiness: Deployed, scheduled, scalable, robust. 20%
Creativity: Novel approach, unexpected use case, clever application. 15%

Video submissions will receive additional consideration in the final judging.

Rewards and Prizes:

  • 1st Place - $2,000 USD + Zerve Credits
  • 2nd Place - $1,000 USD + Zerve Credits
  • 3rd Place - $500 USD + Zerve Credits
  • All participants will receive a certificate of participation.
