GM is hiring Hardware Engineering Interns!

Responsibilities of the Intern:

  • Lead and direct the design, analysis, and testing of components
  • Demonstrate product safety, integrity, and quality through product development
  • Provide an innovative thinking approach to integrating new technology of physical components along with electrical controllers
  • Use of Software Programs Ex: NX, TeamCenter, product drawings, linear and dynamic analysis models
  • Lead and direct the design, analysis, and testing of components
  • Demonstrate product safety, integrity, and quality through product development
  • Provide an innovative thinking approach to working with electrical sensors, actuators, electric motors, power electronics, and electronic controller hardware
  • Translate breakthrough technologies into vehicles and experiences

Requirements:

  • Pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following areas:
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Controls Engineering
    • Controls Systems Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Mechatronics Engineering
    • Biomedical Engineering
    • Material Science Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Aerospace Engineering
    • Aerodynamics Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
  • Must be graduating between December 2023 and June 2025
  • Prior internship experience in automotive or technology
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of engineering principles
  • Deliver new and creative solutions to complex problems
  • High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative, and is proactive
  • Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability, and trust
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to interpret and share content
  • Collaborate with varying degrees of management and other coworkers
  • Demonstrate leadership in the field of study, extracurricular activities, or service organizations
  • Understanding of telecommunication technology                                  
  • Vehicular Technology (road safety, camera, lidar technology, etc.)
  • Efficient use of Software Programs Ex: NX, TeamCenter, MATLAB Simulink, Vehicle SPY (CAN Interface), EAGLE (Circuit Board Design), etc.

About General Motors

Commonly referred to as General Motors, The General Motors Company is an American Multinational Automotive corporation that manufactures, designs, markets and retails vehicles and vehicle parts and also sells financial services. Mergers & Acquisitions:

  • Cruise Automation: a San Francisco self-driving vehicle startup, Cruise Automation was acquired by General Motors in March 2016 with the plans to launch autonomous vehicles, potentially as part of ride-sharing fleets.
  • AmeriCredit: a subprime auto lender, AmeriCredit, was acquired by General Motors in July 2010, for $3.5 billion in cash as a move that will once again give the automaker its own finance arm.

  • Cruise Secures $1.15 Billion of Additional Investment: in May 2019, an equity investment of $1.15 billion was secured by Cruise Automations, one of the subsidiaries of GM, from a group comprising institutional investors, including funds and accounts suggested by T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc., and existing associates  Honda, SoftBank Vision Fund, and General Motors.
  • General Motors Accelerates Transformation: transformation for the future has been accelerated by GM by building on the comprehensive strategy it laid out in 2015 to grow its core business, encourage notable cost efficiencies and capitalize on the tomorrow of individual mobility.
