Barclays is hiring for the position of Controls Assurance Analyst!
Responsibilities of the Candidate:
- Partner across the bank's core business lines to provide independent insurance on internal control processes and advise on structural improvements to the bank’s internal controls framework.
- Execute comprehensive assessments and tests on the architectural design and operational effectiveness of internal IT and operational controls, ensuring absolute alignment with global policies and regulatory standards.
- Conduct detailed risk reviews across IT General Controls (ITGC), IT Application Controls (ITAC), Cyber Security Frameworks, and Data Privacy compliance baselines.
- Audit critical IT Application Control categories including data system interfaces, transactional data reconciliation logic, segregation of duties (SoD), and automated report generation scripts.
- Formulate detailed test plans, documentation trails, and testing procedures to catch design weaknesses prioritized by their severity to disrupt banking operations, fuel financial losses, or trigger reputational impact.
- Collaborate cross-functionally across the bank's 2nd and 3rd Lines of Defense (Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit functions), Technology Leads, and external regulatory auditors.
- Summarize key testing findings, log control breaches, and present clear, data-driven corrective actions to senior management and operational process owners.
- Build, expand, and maintain a centralized Knowledge Center containing detailed documentation of completed control assessments, testing records, and instructional material to upskill internal global squads.
- Make evaluative, objective judgments based on the rigorous analysis of factual data files, paying close attention to technical control environment details.
Requirements:
- Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Computer Applications (BCA/MCA), or a related quantitative field; OR a Bachelor's degree in Commerce (B.Com), Accounting, Finance, or Business with direct practical experience in technical IT Auditing.
- Domain Competencies: Comprehensive knowledge of technology risk and control management principles, IT governance models, and corporate control testing methodologies.
- Tooling & Technical Skills: A solid conceptual understanding of programming logic and database structures (such as SQL, C++, Java, or COBOL) paired with experience leveraging data analytics tools for system file sorting and validation.
- Soft Skills: High analytical capability, structural problem-solving habits using acquired precedents, and strong organizational skills to take ownership of a team's operational results.
- Communication: Confident verbal and written English communication style, with the persuasive capacity to convey complex, highly technical, or sensitive risk information clearly to international stakeholders.
- Mindset: Alignment with the core Barclays Values (Respect, Integrity, Service, Excellence, Stewardship) and Mindset (Empower, Challenge, Drive).
