Vista 2024: Money Maestro, A Portfolio Management Competition

Overview

Money Maestro is a Portfolio Management Competition that provides a platform for participants to showcase their financial acumen, analytical skills, and ability to make sound investment decisions. Through four comprehensive rounds, teams will be evaluated on their knowledge of finance concepts, strategic thinking, and presentation skills. The competition attracts students and professionals from diverse backgrounds to analyze investment scenarios, construct portfolios, and compete for recognition and prizes.

Round 1: Online Quiz

• The round will test participants' expertise through a comprehensive online quiz consisting of 20 multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
• The quiz will be available on Unstop on July 27, 2024.
• It will be a 20-minute quiz and needs to be completed in the 30-minute time slot from 7:30 PM to 8:00 PM.
• This round will test knowledge and finance acumen, showcasing an understanding of finance concepts, investment strategies, and portfolio management principles.
• Top-performing teams demonstrating exceptional knowledge and accuracy in the shortest time will advance to the next round.

Round 2: Portfolio Management Simulation

• Participants will showcase their portfolio management and decision-making skills based on real-world scenarios.
• The simulation game will be available on July 31, 2024. Details about the time slot, duration, and login credentials will be shared with the participating teams.
• This round will test practical understanding of parameters impacting investment strategies and ability to manage portfolios to maximize returns.
• Top-performing teams will advance to the next round.

Round 3: Portfolio Management Case Study

• This will be a submission round, presenting an engaging challenge that tests investment skills.
• Each team will be allotted a client case and required to propose the most suitable portfolio for the client.
• Participants should evaluate the client's requirements, risk appetite, and financial goals to craft a suitable portfolio recommendation.
• A presentation of a maximum of 8 slides (excluding cover slides and appendix) needs to be submitted in PPT/PDF format by August 6, 11:59 PM.
• Submissions should follow the naming convention: “College Name_Team Name_Team Leader Name”.

Round 4: Case Presentation Round

• The top shortlisted teams will qualify for the online/offline finals, held on campus.
• Qualifying teams will present their portfolio solutions in front of a distinguished panel of judges.
• Teams will showcase investment strategies, substantiating their choices with in-depth analysis and demonstrating expertise in portfolio management.
• Following the presentation, teams will engage in an interactive Q&A session with the judges.
• Selected teams will be informed about the exact timings and details in due course of time.
• Teams unable to make adequate travel arrangements for the finals are advised to communicate at least 2 days prior to the round start date.

Rules:

• Registrations will close by 7:30 PM, July 27, 2024.
• The Round 2 simulation will be accessible only to the teams that qualify Round 1.
• The Round 3 case will be accessible only to the teams that qualify Round 2.
• Teams must comprise a minimum of two and a maximum of four members, all of whom must be enrolled in a graduate or a post-graduate program at the time of submission.
• Cross-college teams are not allowed.
• An institute can have any number of teams participating. However, if a team member is found participating as part of more than one team, all such teams shall be disqualified.
• Only the first submissions made by teams before the deadlines will be used.

Terms & Conditions:

• All decisions in matters of eligibility, authenticity, and final judgments will be with the organizing committee of Vista, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore.
• The format and structure of events on campus could be subject to change before the actual beginning of the event.
• The decisions of the organizers will be final and binding on all participants.
