Improv Showdown: Stages and Timelines
Round 1: Improv Inception (Online)
- Submit a 3–5 minute improv video via Google Drive Link on Unstop.
- Videos will serve as auditions—showcase your best humor, creativity, and energy.
- Top 10 participants will advance to the Semi-Final round.
- Results announced by 28th Jan.
Round 2: The Stage Awakens (Offline)
Performances judged on Humor, Creativity, Stage Presence, Audience Engagement, and Overall Impact. Top 4 participants advance to the Final Showdown.
Round 3: The Ultimate Improv Showdown (Offline)
The top 4 participants will face off in a series of improv challenges. The winner will be crowned Unmute’s Best Improviser. Prizes awarded to the top 3 performers.

The stage is set, the audience is ready, and it’s time to unleash your humor! Masters’ Union proudly presents the Improv Showdown, the ultimate test of wit, spontaneity, and creativity at Unmute, our cultural extravaganza. Whether it’s satire, absurdity, or quick storytelling, this is your chance to claim the title of Unmute’s Best Improviser. With every joke and gesture counting, this competition is for those who dare to think on their feet and own the stage. Join us in Gurugram to bring laughter to life!
General Guidelines
- Eligibility:
- Open to students enrolled in a recognized college or university.
- Individual competition; only one participant per entry.
- Registration:
- Register online through Unstop by the deadline.
- Include participant name, contact details, institution name, and personal email ID.
- Performance Format:
- Each participant gets 5 minutes (Empty Stage to Empty Stage).
- Exceeding the time limit will lead to a deduction of points.
- Themes and Originality:
- Performances will be based on on-the-spot prompts provided by the organizing committee.
- Explicit or offensive themes are prohibited and may result in disqualification.
- Judging and Disputes:
- The judges' decisions will be final and binding.
Competition Rounds
Round 1: Preliminary Round (Online)

- Held live at Westin, Gurugram.
- Performances are judged on Humor, Creativity, Stage Presence, Audience Engagement, and Overall Impact.
- Top 4 participants advance to the Final Showdown.
Round 3: Final Showdown (Offline)
- The top 4 participants will face off in a series of improv challenges.
- The winner will be crowned Unmute’s Best Improviser.
- Prizes awarded to the top 3 performers.
Judging Criteria:
- Humor and Wit (30%): Quality of jokes, cleverness, and comedic timing.
- Creativity (25%): Originality and innovation in responses.
- Stage Presence (20%): Confidence, energy, and engaging delivery.
- Audience Engagement (15%): Ability to captivate and entertain the audience.
- Adherence to Rules (10%): Respecting time limits and following guidelines.
Technical Details:
- Prompts:
- Provided by the organizing committee before each performance.
- Participants must base their performance on the given prompt.
- Code of Conduct
- Respect all participants, organizers, and audience members.
- The use of alcohol, drugs, or prohibited substances is strictly forbidden.
- Participants are responsible for any damage caused to equipment or venue property.
- Disqualification Criteria
- Participants may face disqualification for:
- Use of offensive or inappropriate themes.
- Exceeding the allocated time limit by more than 3 minutes.
- Disruptive behavior or misconduct on/off-stage.
- Failure to comply with judges’ or organizers’ decisions.
