All that you need to know about HackForge - Forging the Future

About HackForge:

Welcome to HackForge, an electrifying offline hackathon organized by CodeClub JUSL as part of Srijan'25, the annual techno-management fest of Jadavpur University. HackForge is more than just a competition; it’s a place where creativity meets technology, and where participants can push their boundaries, collaborate, and bring groundbreaking ideas to life.

Our goal is to ignite a passion for programming and problem-solving among students from diverse academic backgrounds. At HackForge, we believe in fostering an ecosystem where innovation, teamwork, and technological excellence come together. Participants will have the opportunity to network with like-minded peers, showcase their problem-solving abilities, and develop real-world solutions that could make a tangible impact.

Whether you're an experienced coder or an aspiring tech enthusiast, HackForge offers you the perfect stage to test your skills, learn new technologies, and challenge yourself. Join us for this exciting journey, where innovation has no limits, and let’s work together to shape the future of technology!

Guidelines:

To ensure smooth participation and a fair competitive environment, please adhere to the following guidelines:

  • The hackathon is open to all students who are currently enrolled in a college or university.
  • Teams must consist of 3-4 members. Students from different institutions and different academic batches are encouraged to collaborate.
  • There will be two rounds in the competition:
    • Idea Submission Round – Teams must submit a PPT (maximum 10 slides) presenting their idea based on the provided themes. Submissions should be made through the designated online portal before the deadline.
    • Coding + Pitching Round – Shortlisted teams will advance to this onsite round, which will take place at the SMCC Building, Jadavpur University Salt Lake Campus.
  • The best-performing teams will be rewarded with cash prizes and recognition.

Rules:

Presentation Format: The project presentation must follow the same PPT format as used in the Smart India Hackathon (SIH). Participants are required to structure their slides accordingly to maintain uniformity and clarity.

Team Composition: Each team must consist of a minimum of three (3) members and a maximum of four (4) members. Teams not meeting this requirement will be disqualified.

Mandatory Registration: All team members must register individually before the submission deadline. Failure to complete registration will result in the team's disqualification.

To maintain the integrity and competitiveness of the event, participants must follow these rules:

  • The Coding + Pitching Round will begin precisely at 10:00 AM. All team members must be present onsite at the scheduled time. Failure to do so will result in disqualification.
  • Participants are allowed to use any technology stack of their choice to develop their solution.
  • All GitHub commits must be made only after the start of the onsite round. Any prior commits will lead to immediate disqualification.
  • All submissions will be subjected to a plagiarism check. Any instance of code plagiarism or idea replication will lead to disqualification from the competition.
  • Code will be evaluated at multiple timestamps, so teams must regularly push their progress to the designated repository.
  • Food and beverages will be provided to all team members participating in the onsite round.

Problem Statements:

Entertainment – "VibeVerse: Fun at Your Fingertips"

  • Entertainment is deeply personal, and it’s time to redefine the way people discover and consume content. The challenge is to build a platform that adapts to user preferences and introduces them to fresh and engaging experiences. Whether it’s movies, music, games, or interactive content, create a system that makes entertainment more immersive and tailored to individual users.
  • Example: An AI-powered app that analyzes a user’s mood in real-time and suggests the perfect movie, game, or playlist to match their emotions.

FinTech – "FinEase: Money Made Simple"

  • Money management shouldn’t be stressful. The goal is to develop a solution that makes budgeting, saving, and investing effortless while ensuring financial literacy and smart spending habits. Your innovation should help users take control of their finances without feeling overwhelmed by complex numbers or calculations.
  • Example: A smart wallet that automatically rounds up spare change from transactions and invests it, helping users build savings passively.

Rural Development – "VillageVantage: Empowering Rural Lives"

  • Technology can be a game-changer for rural communities. The challenge is to develop tech-driven solutions that address the daily struggles of people living in rural areas. This could include enhancing agriculture, improving access to education and healthcare, or boosting economic opportunities.
  • Example: A voice-activated farm assistant that speaks the local language, helping farmers manage crops, monitor weather conditions, and detect pests.

Health Care – "HealthHub: Your Pocket Doctor"

  • Health is a top priority, yet many people lack access to personalized and affordable healthcare solutions. The challenge is to develop a tool that helps users monitor their well-being, stay fit, and receive early health warnings. The solution should make healthcare more proactive, accessible, and user-friendly.
  • Example: A smart fridge that plans meals based on dietary requirements and available ingredients, encouraging users to maintain healthy eating habits.

Workplace & Business Management – "OfficeFlow: Work Smarter, Not Harder"

  • In today’s fast-paced world, streamlining workplace operations is crucial. The challenge is to develop an innovative system that enhances productivity, fosters collaboration, and simplifies complex workflows in remote, hybrid, or office settings.
  • Example: A digital workplace assistant that helps employees schedule meetings, manage tasks, and improve workplace communication with minimal effort.

Open Innovation – "IdeaSpark: Your Problems, Our Solutions"

  • Not every problem fits into a defined category. This track encourages participants to think beyond the provided themes and develop unique, tech-driven solutions that tackle real-world issues. If you have an idea that doesn’t fit into the other themes but has the potential to solve a major challenge, this is your chance to bring it to life!
  • Example: An AI-powered companion that provides emotional support by listening to users’ concerns and offering personalized advice based on their conversations.

HackForge is more than just a hackathon—it's an opportunity to innovate, collaborate, and make a difference. Whether you're solving challenges in finance, healthcare, entertainment, rural development, or business management, or you're creating something entirely new, we can’t wait to see what you build!

Are you ready to hack, forge, and innovate? Let’s build the future, together!
