Hacksagon 2026: Stages and Timelines

Ideation Phase

Submit a detailed project idea based on the provided themes, following the specified format.

Teams that fail to complete the Google form will not be considered for further evaluation.

Offline Round

The final round will be an intensive 36-hour offline coding and prototyping session. Participants shortlisted for this stage will receive an official email containing further instructions and specific details regarding the event.

HACKSAGON was first launched in 2020 as a collaborative initiative to bring together innovative minds from across the nation. What began as a partnership between the ABV-IIITM IEEE Student Branch and six prominent IIITs has since evolved into a nationwide phenomenon.

Building upon this robust foundation, the previous edition, HACKSAGON 2025, shattered records and set new benchmarks for excellence. It witnessed a staggering participation of over 2,700+ students forming 700 teams across all platforms. The competition reached its peak during the grand finale, where the top 150+ elite teams were selected for an intense on-site showdown, turning ideas into reality.

Carrying this legacy forward, HACKSAGON 2026 returns to elevate innovation to unprecedented heights with a prize pool of over Rs 2,50,000. We invite you to solve real-world challenges through interdisciplinary learning in our biggest edition yet.

To encourage interdisciplinary learning and solve real-world challenges, HACKSAGON 2026 features 10 exciting tracks across two major categories:

Software Tracks:

  • Smart Cities & IoT Solutions
  • IoT-Enabled Healthcare & Assistive Technologies

The hackathon will unfold in two competitive stages:

Round 1: Ideation Phase

  • Mode: Online Submission
  • Objective: Teams must propose a detailed project idea based on one of the given tracks. The proposal must adhere strictly to the provided format.

Round 2: Final Prototype Round

  • Mode: On-Site Hackathon, 36 Hours
  • Location: ABV-IIITM, Gwalior
  • Round Dates: 3rd-5th April(Tentative)
  • Objective: The top qualifying teams from the Ideation Phase will converge on campus to build, test, and demonstrate their functional prototypes.

About Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management

  • Indian Institute of Information Technology and Management (IIITM) Gwalior was established in 1997 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Govt. of India.
  • It is an effort by MHRD towards building professionals in the fields of management and IT from the same institute.
  • The institute was created for facilitating research, consultancy and higher education in the areas of IT and business management.
  • Earlier the institute was prefixed with ABV in the year 2002 to honor the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

IIITM's logo

    • The three ‘I’s not only form the ‘M’ but also the crown of ‘T’. The pattern in whole comprises of three I’s, one M and one T.
    • The concentric circles represent the bird’s eye view; a comprehensive approach to training, academics, and consultancy.
    • The dot represents the institute’s clear focus on Information Technology (IT) and management.
    • Blue color represents knowledge and depth is depicted by its dark shade knowledge.
    • The phrase “knowledge is the nectar of life” forms the base of this logo design.
