Problem Solving & Analysis Round
In this round, a detailed Problem Statement will be released to all registered participants.
The problem statement will be based on the following broad themes:

Participants are required to analyze the given problem and submit a structured solution based on their understanding and approach.

Presentation Round
Top 10 Shortlisted teams from Round 1 will advance to the Presentation Round. In this round, teams will: 1. Present their solution to the judging panel 2. Explain their approach, assumptions, and conclusions 3. Respond to questions related to their submission

Event Overview:
- A beginner-friendly hackathon focused on options trading and quantitative finance.
- Designed to help participants apply foundational options concepts to real-world financial decision-making.
- Emphasises intuition behind option pricing, Greeks, risk analysis, and hedging strategies.
- Inspired by how hedge funds and trading desks analyse options positions.

Timeline:
- 3rd January – Registrations Open
- 9th January – Problem Statement Release
- 10th January – Problem Statement Doubt-Solving Session
- 16th January – Submission Deadline
- 20–21st January – Presentation Round & Winner Announcement
Hackathon Structure:
- Round 1: Problem Solving & Analysis
- Team size: 2–4 members
- Options-focused problem set in a hedge fund / trading desk context
- Includes:
- Estimating fair option values and interpreting Greeks
- Risk identification and hedging strategy proposals
- Submission format: document, slides, or code-based analysis
- Evaluation based on conceptual clarity and financial reasoning
- Round 2: Presentation Round
- Top 10 teams shortlisted from Round 1
- Live presentation before a judging panel
- Evaluation based on:
- Strategy logic and intuition
- Risk awareness and decision-making
- Clarity of explanation and presentation quality
Prizes & Recognition:
- ₹50,000 total prize pool
- Certificates for Top 10 teams
- Certificates jointly awarded by FEC IIT Guwahati and AQUA
- Recognition for strong analytical and presentation skills
Eligibility:
- Open to students from all disciplines
- Beginner-friendly; no prior trading experience required
- Cross-institution teams allowed
Rules & Guidelines:
- Team size: 2–4 members
- Team formation can be done after registration
- Only one submission per participant/team
- Problem statement released after registrations close
- Late submissions will not be accepted
- Plagiarism or rule violations lead to disqualification
- Organisers reserve the right to modify rules or timelines

- Established in 1994, IIT Guwahati is the 6th member of the IIT fraternity.
- The academic programme of IIT Guwahati commenced in 1995.
