Opcode: Optimal Coding Challenge: Stages and Timelines
Offline Round
Debugging Challenge: Participants are given a pre-written ARM assembly program that contains deliberate bugs. The task is to identify and fix all errors so that the program produces correct output. Algorithm Implementation Challenge: Participants must implement a given algorithm entirely in ARM assembly, achieving the optimal time and space complexity.
All that you need to know about Opcode: Optimal Coding Challenge
OPCODE is an assembly-language programming competition that tests participants' ability to think at the machine level. Unlike high-level programming contests, OPCODE demands precision at the instruction layer; Every register choice, every branch, and every memory access counts.
The competition is structured around two core challenges:
- Debugging Challenge: Participants are given a pre-written ARM assembly program that contains deliberate bugs. The task is to identify and fix all errors so that the program produces correct output.
- Algorithm Implementation Challenge: Participants must implement a given algorithm entirely in ARM assembly, achieving the optimal time and space complexity.
Solutions are not merely judged on correctness; resource efficiency is paramount. Programs that produce correct output but waste instructions, registers, or memory will be penalised in the scoring.
