Scratch That Code (8-Hour Hackathon): Stages and Timelines

Offline Round

Generic offline or on-campus round.

Hackathon Submission

Submit your Github files, write-up on approach taken and how was the twist incorporated and a demo video (5 min) for evaluation.

Presentation Round

Top 10 Teams selected from the Hackathon will present in front of the judges on 27th February between 2PM to 5 PM. The top 3 teams will then be chosen as winners.

About the Event:

  • In a fast moving world, where all things tech is moving even faster, adapting, iterating and shipping quality consistently fast, is the way to sustain.
  • Scratch That Code is a 8-Hour offline hackathon that brings real-life momentum and chaos to life; where the student teams will work on the problem statement provided in a race against the clock by using any programming language, framework, or tools preferred. Whether it's Python, JavaScript, Flutter, or anything else to solve for the use-case end to end
  • A twist will be introduced at the half-time mark, this twist won’t necessarily make you rollback your entire code but it may definitely change how you perceive the problem statement, figuring out a different approach and make/implement necessary changes to stay ahead of the other teams.

  • Event Name: Scratch That Code - 8 Hour Hackathon with a Twist
  • Date: 26th February 2026
  • Event Mode: Offline
  • Team Size: 3–5 members
  • Eligibility: Open to all Indian undergraduate college students (any branch, any year)
  • Cross-College Teams: Allowed
  • Registration Fee: ₹300 per team
  • Prize Pool: ₹50,000
  • Refreshments: Snacks and beverages to be purchased via F&B stalls

Problem Statement:

  • The problem statement will be released on the day of the Hackathon.

Twist:

  • Owing to the Fest’s theme - Duality, at the half-hour time the problem statement will be subjected to an exciting twist.

What’s Expected:

  • Documentation and Repository
  • Core Userflow
  • Working Demo
  • Basic UI
  • 3-5 Minute Explainer Video

What to Submit:

  • GitHub Repository
  • Demo Video (3–5 mins)
  • A short write-up on the approach taken, if the twist was incorporated and the change in approach after the halftime

Judging Criteria:

  • Innovation and Creativity - 10%
  • Functionality and Feasibility - 30%
  • UI/UX - 20%
  • Implementation of the Twist factor - 10%
  • Code Quality - 20%
  • Presentation and Clarity - 10%

Bonus: if the code is mobile friendly, can help score brownie points.
