Mergers & Acquisitions:
- Wintershell and DEA Merger: in May 2019, BASF and LetterOne completed the merger of Wintershell and DEA creating the leading independent European exploration and production company with international operations in core regions. By 2021-2023, an annual production growth rate of 6% to 8% is expected.
- Advanc3D Materials & Setup Performance: two manufacturers of 3D printing materials, Adcanc3D Materials, and Setup Performance were acquired by BASF in July 2018, with the plan to continue research, development and distribution work under the roof of BASF 3D Printing Solutions.
- Bayer: as a strategic complement to its Biotech and digital farming activities, and crop protection, BASF completed the acquisition of assets and businesses of Bayer thereby marking its entry into the seeds, nematicide seeds and non-selective herbicides seeds treatments.
- Solvay’s polyamide business: in January 2019, BASF got the approval of EU Commission to acquire the polyamide business assets of Solvay as a step to complement its engineering plastics portfolio, intensify the entrance to essential growth markets in South America and Asia as well as develop the value chain through backward integration into key raw materials such as adipodinitrile or ADN.
- ZedX Inc.: a Pennsylvania, USA based expert in agronomic models designed to support farmers in making better production decisions, ZedX Inc., was acquired by BASF in the May of 2017, with the plan to solidify its digital farming footprint and further invests in helping growers take advantage of the accelerating amount of big data made in agriculture and beyond.
- Innofil3D: a 100% stake in the filament producer, Innofil3D, was acquired by BASF in August 2017 as a step to move further along the value chain and not only provide plastic granulate for 3D printing but also the filaments.

When it comes to Corporate Social Responsibility, BASF is a proactive company which has aligned its activities and operations along the lines of the safety of the environment, energy, and climate protection, sustainable use of water, contribution to, human rights, positive social engagements and UN Sustainable Development Goals.
BASF India has embarked upon the process of institutionalizing its commitment at being socially responsible with the aim of sustainable development of the society. The objective of this strategy is to determine the company’s vision, guiding principles, governance structures, strategy and programs for its corporate social responsibility efforts. The CSR taskforce comprises of a senior BASF executive, heading it, along with a few selected employees, representing diverse responsibilities from the Company. CSR task force is the first point of contact for the program implementation teams on the ground for advice and guidance. The task force also supports the CSR core committee in terms of implementation of the CSR interventions.
The key stakeholders of the CSR programs are primarily those communities, in which BASF India has its business footprint. From these communities, the focus will be on children, youth and women. Contributing positively to these stakeholders and improving their quality of life by providing sustainable solutions are essential elements of BASF India’s CSR efforts.
