Data Engineer

Roles and Responsibilities:

You’ll work closely with Goalkeep’s internal team and support client projects as needed. Your responsibilities will include: 

Infrastructure Maintenance & Optimization

• Design and review data pipeline diagrams for both client and internal projects
• Build data pipelines by writing clean, efficient SQL queries for data analysis and quality
  checks
• Monitor data pipeline performance and proactively raise alarms and fix issues
• Maintain and upgrade Goalkeep’s internal tech infrastructure
• Monitor infrastructure costs to identify inefficiencies and recommend cost-saving strategies across cloud services and tech subscriptions

Internal Tech Enablement & Support

• Provide tech setup and troubleshooting support to internal teams and analysts so that we can successfully deliver on client projects
• Assist with onboarding new team members onto Goalkeep systems

What we’re looking for:

Hard Skills:

• Data modeling and database management (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server)
• Installing and maintaining software on Linux systems
• Familiarity with cloud-based platforms (AWS / GCP / Azure) is a must
• Ability to troubleshoot based on system logs and performance indicators
• Data engineering: writing efficient SQL, designing pipelines 

Soft Skills & Mindsets:

• Curiosity and accountability when investigating system issues
• Discipline to proactively maintain and monitor infra

Must-Know Tools:

• Linux Command Line
• SQL 

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2+ years of work experience in software development or IT infrastructure roles
• Bachelor's degree in any STEM field
